Does Employment Law Apply to Churches?

01.14.2020 Written by: Henningson & Snoxell, Ltd.

(Thank you to Worship Security Association for providing this video interview with Attorney Virginia C. Cronin!)

I think first and foremost we run into a lot of churches that don’t think employment laws apply to them: “We’re a church. We don’t have to follow what the law says about employment or employees.”

Unfortunately, that’s probably the biggest fallacy out there. If you have one or more employees, you are an employer.

It’s important to take a look at what laws apply to you, depending upon the state in which you’re located.
